MANHATTAN AT THE MORNING
from $390
Trying to shoot a unique photograph about New York, which would not repeat the billions of previous photographs about this city, is the same way as 'looking for a needle in a haystack'. Most likely the first months of my stay in this city I kept in myself such hope for creating such a photograph. But every day after watching the photographs were created by me, I was convinced that I should not follow the tourist routes and press the camera button of my camera. In addition to thousands of similar pictures, I would not get anything.
I began to remember more often what I had been studying at the institute for several years. And in my memory the words came back - photography is a synthesis of composition and atmosphere.
If I don’t want to take 100,005 photographs of the same place, then I’ll take my photocamera with me each time with just one task - finding a non-trivial composition and catching a certain atmosphere.
If the composition is more clear, with it is a need to work on finding such points that will form an interesting photograph.
Creating the atmosphere is more difficult. The atmosphere of the photograph causes certain feelings and thoughts in us. Passing mood of the moment was caught by camera.
Therefore, in each photograph in this series, I tried to pass along a certain atmosphere, and not just the beauty of the subject.
In some pictures, the mood turned foggy and thoughtful, somewhere bright and warm atmosphere, in one of the pictures it turned out to catch a mysterious and exciting picture, from which it is difficult to look away. To me, these are the most satisfying images because they go beyond the expected reality of a given place. It took me a while to learn seeing a certain atmosphere. Sometimes I spend hours waiting for the exact crossing of elements: light, shadows, composition, mood, and the moment. And the result is worth it.
